Officially opened in 1909, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad is one of Kuala Lumpur's oldest and most evocative mosques. Located where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet—the historic birthplace of the capital—it was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback in a graceful Indo-Saracenic Moorish style. Its striped brick arches, twin minarets, and three bulbous white domes sit harmoniously in a tranquil palm-shaded courtyard.

Highlights

  • Historic 1909 mosque located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers
  • Graceful Indo-Saracenic Moorish architecture with striped arches and domes
  • Tranquil palm-fringed courtyard oasis set amid bustling modern towers
