A monumental late 19th-century colonial landmark presiding over Merdeka Square in central Kuala Lumpur, completed in 1897 to designs by A. C. Norman and A. B. Hubback. Built in an elaborate Indo-Saracenic Moorish revival style, it showcases gleaming copper domes, red-and-white brick arches, and a 41-metre clock tower dubbed Malaysia's Big Ben. This historic site witnessed the lowering of the Union Jack when independence was declared in 1957.
