Presiding over Jan Palach Square along the Vltava River, the Rudolfinum is an exceptional neo-Renaissance cultural complex opened in 1884. Named in honor of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria, it is the home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, with its grand Dvořák Hall world-famous for crystal-clear acoustics. The building also houses Galerie Rudolfinum, a progressive public non-profit gallery staging contemporary visual art shows.
