Europe's oldest active synagogue and an exceptional monument of early Gothic architecture, built in Prague's Josefov quarter around 1270. Featuring a twin-nave hall with five-ribbed vaulted ceilings, it retains medieval stone reliefs, an ornate wrought-iron bimah cage, and historic chandeliers. According to famous folklore, Rabbi Loew placed the clay body of the legendary Golem in the attic of this sanctuary.
