Osaka's iconic landmark, originally constructed in 1583 by warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a citadel of unified Japan. Rebuilt with citizen donations in 1931, the five-tiered, eight-storey main keep showcases white walls, copper roofs, and gleaming gilded tiger ornaments. Inside, a museum chronicles the Sengoku era and samurai armour leading up to an observation deck, while the 106-hectare park blooms with thousands of cherry trees.
