Europe's largest synagogue and the second-largest in the world, the Great Synagogue on Dohany Street accommodates 3,000 worshippers. Completed in 1859 by Viennese architect Ludwig Forster in a magnificent Moorish Revival style, it features twin octagonal towers crowned with onion domes, gilded chandeliers, and an organ. The complex includes the Hungarian Jewish Museum, a Holocaust cemetery, and the weeping willow Tree of Life memorial.
