Scandinavia's most visited museum was custom-built around the world's only preserved 17th-century ship. The 64-gun royal warship Vasa sank in Stockholm harbour on its maiden voyage in 1628 and spent 333 years preserved in Baltic mud. Salvaged in 1961 with over 98% of its original wood intact, the magnificent vessel displays hundreds of carved wooden sculptures across six levels of viewing galleries.
