Rising above Tašmajdan Park in central Belgrade, this monumental Serbian Orthodox church was built in the 1930s in grand Serbo-Byzantine style, modeled after the medieval Gračanica Monastery. Its warm ochre brickwork, monumental arches, and five soaring domes make it a dominant city landmark. Inside, the cavernous interior houses the carved marble sarcophagus of Emperor Stefan Dušan and an exceptional treasury of rare icons.
