Dominating Marienplatz, Munich's New Town Hall is a neo-Gothic masterpiece and one of the city's defining landmarks. Constructed between 1867 and 1908 to plans by Georg von Hauberrisser, its 100-metre stone facade is richly decorated with statues of Bavarian rulers and folklore figures. The 85-metre central tower houses the famous Glockenspiel carillon, and an elevator takes visitors to an open observation deck overlooking the Alps.

Highlights

  • Monumental Neo-Gothic stone facade featuring Bavarian royalty
  • Tower observation deck with panoramic vistas of Munich and the Alps
  • Ornate inner courtyard and historic neo-Gothic Law Library
