Tucked into the pedestrian cobblestones of Bratislava's Old Town, this playful bronze statue of Čumil ('The Watcher' or 'Man at Work') is the city's most beloved photo spot. Created by sculptor Viktor Hulík in 1997 at the corner of Panská and Laurinská streets, it depicts a smiling municipal worker resting his chin on his arms as he peeks out from an open manhole. Local folklore says rubbing his polished bronze helmet brings good luck.
