A former US Army airfield inside the Presidio, turned in 2001 into a waterfront zone of tidal marsh, beach and promenade. It frames one of the most photographed views of the Golden Gate Bridge, with fog drifting over the bay on many mornings. A flat trail runs from Fort Point to the Palace of Fine Arts, past picnic tables and benches. The restored wetlands attract herons, waders and migratory birds.
