Colombo Fort Old Clock Tower

Built in 1860 during British colonial rule, the Colombo Clock Tower Lighthouse is worth a quick visit. Located in the Colombo Fort area, it originally functioned as a lighthouse, safely guiding ships into the city's harbor. The tower was built as a clock tower in 1856–57 and completed in 1857, making it the tallest structure in Colombo at the time (29 meters high). Right after the market, you will enter the fort area and see the Clock Tower (also known as the Colombo Fort Clock Tower). I love the reason the Clock Tower was installed — to instill punctuality in people who were always late back then! It also served as a lighthouse until the 1950s.
