An imposing 19th-century fortress crowning the 235-metre summit of Gellért Hill in Budapest, built by the Austrian Habsburgs following the 1848 Hungarian Revolution. Its most famous landmark is the soaring 14-metre bronze Liberty Statue holding a palm leaf aloft, visible across the entire city. The surrounding hilltop terraces provide Budapest's most spectacular panoramic views over the Danube, historic bridges, and Parliament.
