Bains des Pâquis is a swimming pier on Lake Geneva, a locals' favorite since 1872. In summer people sunbathe, swim and dive off the deck and dine facing the Jet d'Eau fountain; in winter the sauna warms them and Wednesdays are fondue nights. The pier and cafe are open to everyone, while pool access in high season costs a token fee. The best place to meet everyday Geneva: unpretentious, with newspapers, blankets and brave swimmers.
