One of the oldest zoos in the world, opened in City Park in 1866. The grounds are famous for pairing diverse wildlife with Art Nouveau architectural masterworks: Kornél Neuschloss's Elephant House crowned with Zsolnay ceramic tiles, the ornate main gate flanked by stone polar bears, and the artificial Great Rock holding the Magical Hill exhibit. Over a thousand animal species thrive amid historic pavilions and botanical gardens.
