The Theatine Church of St. Cajetan on Odeonsplatz is a landmark of Italian High Baroque in the heart of Munich. Commissioned in 1663 to celebrate the birth of a royal heir, its distinctive mustard-yellow Rococo facade was completed a century later by François de Cuvilliés. Inside, the grand nave dazzles with radiant white stucco work and an soaring 71-metre dome. The underground crypt holds the royal tombs of Bavaria's Wittelsbach monarchs.
