Sri Lanka's foremost Catholic shrine, in the Kochchikade district north of Colombo's port. The parish grew from a modest late-18th-century chapel into a pilgrimage site for all faiths: Saint Anthony is asked here for help with every kind of trouble. Tuesdays are the busiest, when novena services are held. In April 2019 the church was damaged in the Easter bombings and later restored. Entry is free; modest dress is expected.
