The oldest surviving synagogue building in Poland, on Szeroka Street in the heart of Kazimierz. The late-Gothic hall was rebuilt in Renaissance style by Italian masters after a fire, and its furnishings were looted during the wartime occupation. Today it is a branch of the Museum of Krakow: the prayer hall and women's gallery hold a collection of Jewish culture, from ritual objects to photographs of pre-war Jewish Krakow.
