Inaugurated in 2013 and named after Bordeaux's longtime mayor, this is Europe's longest vertical-lift bridge across the Garonne. Its 110-metre central span rises up to 53 metres in just 11 minutes to let cruise ships and tall sailing vessels pass into the city port. Four massive 77-metre pylons feature dynamic LED lighting that changes hue depending on the Atlantic tide, making it a striking landmark.
