Greece's sole official Olympic Museum, formally recognized by the International Olympic Committee, was established in 1998 adjacent to the Kaftanzoglio Stadium. Its extensive exhibition chronicles the history of the Olympic movement, from the ancient pan-Hellenic contests in Olympia to the modern revival in Athens in 1896 and today.
