One of Europe's most magnificent opera houses, opened in 1884 along Budapest's grand Andrássy Avenue. Designed in sumptuous neo-Renaissance style by Miklós Ybl, the building is embellished with composer statues, fine marble, and rich gilding. Its horseshoe-shaped auditorium boasts world-renowned acoustics, a massive three-ton bronze chandelier, and Károly Lotz's breathtaking ceiling fresco depicting the Olympian gods.
