A confectionery next to the Jerónimos Monastery in Belém, open since 1837 and the only place baking pastéis de Belém from the original monastery recipe, known to just a few master bakers. The tarts arrive warm, dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Inside are azulejo-tiled rooms overlooking the bakery; the street queue moves fast, and in summer it's easier to take them away and eat by the monastery.
