The oldest stone structure in Abu Dhabi: an 18th-century watchtower around which a white fort grew by the 1940s, home to the ruling Al Nahyan family until 1966. Reopened in 2018 after years of restoration, it now houses galleries on the emirate's history, with arms, documents and lookout towers. Around it lie a park and the free-to-enter House of Artisans; the fort is beautifully lit at night.
