Hungary's foremost history museum, housed in an imposing neoclassical palace designed by Mihály Pollack and completed in 1847. Its monumental front steps played a pivotal role in the 1848 Revolution when poet Sándor Petőfi rallied crowds with his National Song. The museum preserves national heritage from prehistory to the modern era, including Roman lapidary finds, the Seuso Treasure, and the historic coronation mantle of Saint Stephen.
