A 17th-century canal house on Prinsengracht where young diarist Anne Frank and seven others hid from Nazi persecution between July 1942 and August 1944 in the concealed Secret Annex behind a swinging bookcase. Preserved empty in accordance with her surviving father Otto's wishes, the rooms still bear Anne's pasted movie star postcards on the wallpaper. Visits require advance booking with strict timed entry slots online.
