The first permanent bridge across the Danube, joining Buda and Pest in 1849. Designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark at the initiative of Count István Széchenyi, the 375-metre suspension bridge is guarded by stone lions sculpted by János Marschalkó. Blown up during the Second World War and rebuilt for its centenary, the landmark offers grand views of Buda Castle and the river.
