Lisbon's central formal park covering 26 hectares on a slope north of Marquês de Pombal Square. Named in 1903 after King Edward VII to celebrate the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, the park features a striking corridor of geometric boxwood hedges. From the upper terrace, marked by a monumental Portuguese flag, panoramic vistas sweep down Avenida da Liberdade to the Tagus River. The park also houses the Estufa Fria greenhouse complex.
