The sprawling Promenade des Anglais area takes its name from Nice’s palm-lined, seafront boulevard, where a walkway and cycle lane border pebbled beaches, and chic bars and restaurants overlook the water. Parc Phoenix is a zoo with a tropical glasshouse, while the iconic art deco Palais de la Méditerranée hotel features a casino. In winter, decorated floats fill the stretch during the annual Carnaval de Nice.
