Erected in 1321 by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq, the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty, this sprawling fortress dominates southern Delhi. Spanning over six kilometers, its cyclopean granite walls and massive sloping bastions once protected a bustling medieval city. Today, visitors can explore atmospheric ruins of palace quarters, underground tunnels, and the fortified red sandstone tomb of the sultan connected by a stone causeway.
