The world-renowned Rock Church in Helsinki's Toolo district, quarried directly into solid bedrock by architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen in 1969. The subterranean sanctuary is capped by a breathtaking 24-metre dome lined with 22 kilometres of polished copper wire. Natural daylight cascades down rough-hewn granite walls through 180 skylight windows, while the natural rock surfaces create sublime acoustics for organ recitals.
