A hilltop memorial above Bratislava and the largest military burial ground in Slovakia, where thousands of Soviet soldiers who fell liberating the city in April 1945 lie at rest. At its centre stands a roughly 39-metre obelisk with a soldier statue, opened in 1960. Its terraces offer one of the city's best panoramas: the castle, the Danube and the Carpathians on the horizon. Entry is free, and people come for both silence and sunsets.
