Shitenno-ji is one of Japan's oldest Buddhist temples, founded in Osaka by Prince Shotoku in 593 AD. The complex follows a revered ancient layout where the southern gate, five-story pagoda, and main Kondo hall align along a strict north-south axis. The peaceful grounds feature the Gokuraku-jodo Pure Land garden, a turtle-filled pond, and a historic treasure house, while vibrant flea markets take place here on the 21st and 22nd of every month.
