Saigon Cao Dai Temple

Other4.6 · 104≈ 15 min

A few miles from Highway 22, in the town of Long Hoa, lies the mysterious Great Temple of Cao Dai, or the Cathedral of the Holy See of Tay Ninh (see our guide to getting around Vietnam for tips). Magnificent gates mark the entrance to the building's grounds. At first glance, the temple seems to be settling, but your first impressions will likely be dominated by what Graham Greene described as "a Walt Disney fantasy of the East, dragons and snakes in Technicolor." This religion integrates other major religions into its doctrines, so the mixture of religious statues inside the temple is a major attraction for tourists. Why it's so great: Cao Dai is a relatively new religion founded in Vietnam in the 20th century. It is a monotheistic religion that integrates aspects of all major religions into its doctrines.
