The primary Catholic cathedral of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presiding over the pedestrian Ferhadija promenade in central Sarajevo. Built between 1884 and 1889 by architect Josip Vancaš, it blends Neo-Gothic verticality with Romanesque details. Its twin 43-metre bell towers dominate the streetscape, while a bronze statue of Pope John Paul II honours his historic 1997 post-war visit. A red Sarajevo Rose marks the pavement outside.
