The three main attractions of Phang Nga Road are the Temple of Tranquil Light (W), the amulet market, and the On On Hotel (V). The On On Hotel (V) has a fascinating history: almost everyone has seen it in the film "The Beach," but few know that the hotel is not located in Bangkok, as shown in the film, but right here in Phuket Town. Until recently, the On On Hotel was almost as bad as in the film and cost just 200 baht a night! Phang Nga Road is one of the historic streets of Phuket Old Town, running parallel to Thalang Road. It is full of charm, with plenty of local cafés and various notable historic attractions and monuments. If you have the chance to visit this town, one of the things worth doing in Phuket is strolling along these quiet streets; you should definitely take in the magnificent restored infrastructure and the museums.
