A masterpiece of High Gothic civil architecture built in the late 14th century by master mason Petr Parler at the eastern entrance to Charles Bridge in Prague. Designed as a triumphal arch on the Royal Route, its eastern facade is adorned with intricate stone carvings and statues of Saint Vitus, Emperor Charles IV, and King Wenceslaus IV. Climbing 138 steps leads to an open viewing gallery overlooking the Vltava and Prague Castle.
