Museum Bank Indonesia is housed in the grand 1909 neo-classical former headquarters of De Javasche Bank in Jakarta's Old Town (Kota Tua). Through modern multimedia displays and dioramas, the museum chronicles the monetary and economic history of the archipelago, from spice trade commodity currencies and Dutch East India Company coins to the modern rupiah. A major highlight is the walk-in bank vault filled with authentic stacked gold bullion.
