Palais Lascaris is a Genoese-style baroque mansion in Vieux-Nice, raised in the mid-seventeenth century for the Ventimiglia-Lascaris family. The frescoed grand staircase, tapestries and state rooms survive intact, and since the 1970s the palace has also held one of France's finest collections of historic musical instruments. Look for the doorway on narrow rue Droite; an unhurried visit takes about an hour.
