The Mozart Residence on Makartplatz is the house the Mozart family moved to in 1773 from Getreidegasse; Wolfgang lived here until his departure for Vienna and wrote many works here. Damaged in the 1944 bombing, the building was reconstructed and opened as a museum in 1996: original objects, documents, autograph scores and a multimedia display on the composer's Salzburg years.
