A historic 19th-century cast-iron market occupying an entire octagonal block of Barcelona's Eixample district. Designed by Antoni Rovira i Trias in the shape of a Greek cross, it reopened in 2018 after a meticulous restoration that uncovered ancient Roman walls and medieval bastions below. Today, the bustling hall houses traditional fresh food stalls, tapas bars, and clothes vendors, while Sundays host a beloved vintage book and coin fair.

Highlights

  • Magnificent 1882 cast-iron architecture in a Greek-cross shape
  • Excavated Roman road and 17th-century bastion in the basement
  • Lively fresh produce stalls and traditional tapas bars
  • Legendary Sunday collectors fair for vintage books and coins
