A palace on a bend of the Neva, built in 1768–1785 by Antonio Rinaldi for Grigory Orlov: the first St Petersburg facade faced in natural stone, with thirty-two shades of Ural, Karelian and Italian marble. Since 1992 it has been a branch of the Russian Museum, showing Russian and European art of the 19th and 20th centuries, including the Ludwigs' collection of Western modernism and Soviet avant-garde.
