The Kondivite rock-cut Buddhist monastery in Andheri East, carved into basalt in the early centuries CE: 19 caves with monastic vihara cells, chaitya prayer halls, stone stupas and Brahmi inscriptions. The complex hides among residential blocks of the metropolis and is protected as an archaeological monument; its quiet and greenery contrast with the office towers nearby.
