Monument to José Rizal, the Philippines' national hero, in Rizal Park on the spot of his execution on 30 December 1896. The bronze figure on a pedestal topped by an obelisk was made by Swiss sculptor Richard Kissling and unveiled in 1913, on the 17th anniversary of his death. Rizal's remains lie here, Manila's kilometre zero is counted from this spot, and an honour guard stands watch around the clock.
