Hűvösvölgy, Children's Railway

Sight4.8 · 5 609≈ 1 h 15 minFree entry

The terminus of Budapest's Children's Railway in the leafy Huvosvolgy valley on the edge of the Buda hills. Since 1948 this unusual line has been run almost entirely by schoolchildren: kids sell tickets, announce stations and operate switches under adult instructors' supervision. From here you can set off into the nature reserve towards Elisabeth Lookout or Janos Hill, and the shaded valley stays pleasantly cool even in summer heat.
