The Presidential Palace in Hanoi was constructed between 1900 and 1906 by French architect Auguste Henri Vildieu as the official palace of the Governor-General of French Indochina. This imposing mustard-yellow Beaux-Arts mansion is framed by manicured gardens and mango alleys. Used today for formal state receptions, its exterior can be viewed beside the modest wooden stilt house of Ho Chi Minh.
