Ghetto Heroes Square

Sight4.5 · 13 3084.4 · 1 599≈ 32 minFree entry

Ghetto Heroes Square in Krakow's Podgórze district was the central assembly point of the Krakow Ghetto during the Nazi occupation, where thousands were gathered for deportation to extermination camps. In 2005, the square was transformed into a profound outdoor memorial featuring dozens of oversized empty bronze and iron chairs. The installation poignantly evokes abandoned household furniture, while the historic Eagle Pharmacy stands nearby.
