For decades now, every Sunday, Madrid's most famous flea market has been held in the area around Cascorro Square. More than 1,000 street vendors set up their stalls early in the morning on Calle Ribera de Curtidores and the surrounding streets. It is a must-do Sunday activity for both tourists and locals; at the market stalls you can find practically everything you can imagine, including rare items that are hard to find in regular shops. Take part in a 400-year-old trading tradition at the El Rastro flea market. Open every Sunday and on public holidays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., El Rastro stretches along Cascorro Square, La Ribera de Curtidores, and Ronda de Toledo in La Latina. Vendors in the maze of open-air stalls sell clothing, souvenirs, crafts, antiques, and all kinds of trinkets you can imagine.
