The Vasari Corridor has been closed since 2016 but will open to visitors in 2022. Originally built in the 16th century, the Vasari Corridor was used by the Medici family and high-ranking officials to walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The rich did not interact with the poor and therefore had their own passageways. The Vasari Corridor is an elevated enclosed gallery in Florence, Italy, designed by Giorgio Vasari. It connects the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti, passing through the Uffizi Gallery. The corridor contains a unique collection of self-portraits by eminent artists.
