Barcelona premier green oasis covering 17 hectares, created in the late 19th century on the grounds of an 18th-century military citadel. The park centerpiece is the Cascada Monumental, a dramatic baroque-inspired fountain with gilded statues on which a young Antoni Gaudí worked as an assistant. Visitors can rent rowboats on the small lake, admire tropical palm gardens, and see the Parliament.
