This whimsical Art Nouveau church is located east of the old town on Bezručova Street. It was built in the 1910s as a chapel for the Gamča gymnasium (secondary school) but has become a symbol of Slovakia. The architect responsible for the project was Ödön Lechner, a pioneer of Hungarian Secessionism often called the Hungarian Gaudí. When you look at the best attractions in Bratislava, you are bound to come across a mention of this church. It is called the romantic church due to the soft color palette of its walls and its graceful Art Nouveau architecture. The building resembles a gingerbread house from a fairy tale, covered in icing.
